I’m going to be honest… Even though I am working in my much-desired field (graphic design), it’s hard to be happy at work sometimes. The place I work at is a new company and it is CHAOTIC. As a designer, I have to wear multiple hats. That includes product development, photography, account manager, and JEEZ sometimes even a chemist (not kidding!). I don’t know how much longer I can take it! But anyways, it’s just crazy and sometimes I get so stressed that I forget to enjoy the little things. I realized that it’s important to keep some things around that still make me feel human. Here are 3 things that made my workday today:
Starting this week, we are going to have a paletero man (ice cream man) come every Monday to sell us ice cream. He is such a nice older man and he is Mexican too so I enjoy talking to him in Spanish. I ran into him (not literally) driving back from lunch and told him I had a lot of coworkers back inside the building that would want ice cream too! Long story short, they made arrangements for him to come visit us once a week! It’s really cool and I would be happy to help him out and make him some extra money. He only charges about $1.25 for a popsicle like this. It was spicy… next week I think I’ll get strawberry.
#2 Cubicle Decor
I have a pretty good sized cubicle, not going to complain! I do hate having a cluttered desk though, so I try to keep my decor to a minimum. This is my little humble corner that I am proud of because I put it together for around $13. I got the pencil holder for free, it was lying around the office somewhere. It actually has a little pink bear head on it but you can’t see it in the picture. I got the little plastic drawers at the dollar store. My favorite thing on my whole desk is this glass frame I found at Target for $5! I also got the little plastic succulents with the pot for $3 each at Target. We all need a confidence booster sometimes to make us feel better. My head could be a mess but hey, at least I’ll look great. Since I don’t have to meet with clients or anything, I am allowed to dress a little bit more laid-back. However, today I decided I wanted to wear heels. These are one of my favorite pair of heels because they are actually comfortable. I don’t wear them often because I have trouble matching them with a lot of things. And for the rest of my outfit, oh my gosh, you guys will notice that I wear black a lot. I’m trying not to this year. So far it’s not working.
Looking at it, everyday is a struggle to wakeup and go to work. Someday I won’t have to do the 9-5 but as for now, I am trying to make the best of it. What are some things at your job that cheer you guys up? I would love to hear from you and if you have some suggestions!
